Pest control in Woori Yallock

Woori Yallock's post office opened in 1886 as Woori Yalloak, and the Warburton Trail now runs through town on the old railway line.

We connect you with a local pest controller who works in the Yarra Valley.

A fifth of it floods

About a fifth of Woori Yallock is under the flood overlay on the planning maps, a bigger share than in Seville East or Launching Place next door. Water left lying after a flood is where mosquitoes breed, and the health department's advice is to remove stagnant water and use repellent.

Checked 25 October 2026 against Vicmap Planning, the state's zone and overlay maps (DataVic), measured across the suburb and Department of Health: mosquito-borne diseases.

The shopping area

Woori Yallock has a shopping area, a primary school and a football oval, home to the Woori Tigers. A shop that prepares or sells food has to take all practicable measures to keep pests out and to eradicate any that get in. For a heavy cockroach infestation, that means a licensed operator. Spiders and insects covers food businesses.

Checked 25 October 2026 against Wikipedia: Woori Yallock, Food Standards Code, Standard 3.2.2, clause 24 and Better Health Channel: cockroaches.

Farms and bush blocks

Three-quarters of the land is green wedge farming and about a sixth is rural conservation zone. On the farms, established pest animals are the landowner's to control, with reasonable steps to stop them spreading; Cardinia's council lists wild rabbits as one. Snakes on the bush blocks are a different matter. They are protected, the council won't remove them, and a licensed snake controller will, at the caller's cost; 136 186 has a list. Who to call has the rest.

Checked 25 October 2026 against Vicmap Planning, the state's zone and overlay maps (DataVic), measured across the suburb, Cardinia Shire Council: problem animals, Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 (Vic), s.20 (authorised version 072), DELWP: Living with snakes fact sheet (2021) and Yarra Ranges Council: snakes.

Termites

All of Yarra Ranges, Woori Yallock included, is designated as an area where buildings are likely to be attacked by termites. New building work has to be protected; a detached shed need not be.

Checked 25 October 2026 against Yarra Ranges Council: termites and Building Regulations 2018 (Vic), regs 150 and 151 (authorised version 031).
