Pest control in Wandin North
The Warburton line's Wandin station stood in Wandin North, and its rebuilt platform is still there beside the rail trail.
We connect you with a local pest controller who works in the Yarra Valley.

A growers' district
A horticultural society was based in Wandin from 1891, and the land is still mostly farmed: close to nine-tenths of Wandin North is green wedge on the planning maps. Farm sheds draw rats and mice. The strongest baits, the second-generation anticoagulants, were suspended for a year from 24 March 2026, and owls have been found dead with dangerous levels of them. Rats and mice explains the alternatives.

The landowner's duty on pest animals
The Catchment and Land Protection Act puts established pest animals on the owner of the land, who has to take reasonable steps to stop them spreading and, as far as possible, eradicate them. The Act doesn't name species; Cardinia's council, for one, names wild rabbits. Deer are different: Yarra Ranges runs a deer program, funded by the state since 2021, on 1300 368 333.
Checked 25 October 2026 against Cardinia Shire Council: problem animals, Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 (Vic), s.20 (authorised version 072) and Yarra Ranges Council: deer.
Around the old Wandin station
Wandin station stood here on the Warburton line, which ran from 1901 to 1965. Its platform was rebuilt and is still there, and the rail trail now follows the line. A Methodist church opened in 1867 and Wandin Yallock Primary School in 1870.

Termites
The whole shire is a designated termite area. New building work in Wandin North must be protected against termites. Existing buildings get a timber pest inspection, and treatment takes a pest controller licensed for timber pests. Termites covers both.
Checked 25 October 2026 against Yarra Ranges Council: termites, Building Regulations 2018 (Vic), regs 150 and 151 (authorised version 031), Standards Australia: AS 4349.3-2010 and Department of Health: pest control licence applications.
Where Wandin North meets the rest
- Lilydale
- More of a town: more than a quarter of it is zoned for houses.
- Seville, Wandin East, Coldstream and Gruyere
- Green wedge farmland like Wandin North's, all in Yarra Ranges with the same termite designation.
Mount Evelyn and Silvan, also next door, are on the Dandenong Ranges site.
