Pest control in Millgrove
Millgrove was a timber-milling town under Mount Donna Buang into the 1960s, and it still has a saw mill.

A bakery and a fish and chip shop
Millgrove's small shopping area has a general store, a bakery, a newsagent and a fish and chip shop. Each food business there has to take all practicable measures to keep pests out and to get rid of any that get in. That is clause 24 of the Food Standards Code's Standard 3.2.2, and it doesn't expressly require a pest contract or records.

Under Donna Buang, Ben Cairn and Mount Little Joe
The town sits beneath those forested mountains, near the Yarra, and was a timber-milling and farming town into the 1960s. It still has a saw mill. Land zoned for houses is less than a tenth of the suburb on the planning maps. Over two fifths is green wedge and farming, about a fifth rural living and conservation, and about a tenth park or reserve.
Deer have been reported across the ranges and the valley for about ten years. Yarra Ranges runs a deer program funded by the state since 2021, with DeerScan, harvesters and fencing advice; its Deer Program Officer is on 1300 368 333. Who to call sorts out which animals are whose.

Rats, mice, and the termite rule
The strongest rat poisons, the second-generation anticoagulants, were suspended for a year from 24 March 2026. BirdLife Australia found dangerous levels of them in dead Powerful Owls and Southern Boobooks. Rats and mice covers what to try before bait.
Millgrove is in Yarra Ranges' designated termite area. New building work has to be protected; an existing house is checked by a timber pest inspection.
Checked 25 October 2026 against APVMA: second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides to be restricted (March 2026), BirdLife Australia: protect Aussie birds from SGAR rat poisons, Yarra Ranges Council: termites, Building Regulations 2018 (Vic), regs 150 and 151 (authorised version 031) and Standards Australia: AS 4349.3-2010.
Between Wesburn and Warburton
- Wesburn
- West on the highway, where park and reserve cover nearly two thirds of the land.
- Warburton
- Four kilometres up the valley. Both are Yarra Ranges, so the termite designation and the council's rules don't change.
